This comes from a very useful document called - Classroom practices for dealing with traumatised children from Calmer Classrooms- A guide to working with traumatised children.
You can find it here... http://www.ccyp.vic.gov.au/childsafetycommissioner/downloads/calmer_classrooms.pdf This is an activity that students can do on their own. It gives the teacher a bit of a "heads up." It comes from Making Space for Learning:Trauma Informed Practice in Schools.

AuthorThe power of language cannot be underestimated. This is why I am passionate about empowering children to be literate, critical thinkers. I have lived and worked in regional areas and remote communities, and as a result have a keen interest in Aboriginal cultures, languages and Indigenous issues; in particular those related to English as an additional language and dialect.
